The Isle of Bute is situated off the West Coast of Scotland, on
approximately the same latitude as the Cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh.
There are two ferry crossings to the island - a 30 minute vehicle ferry
from Wemyss Bay to Rothesay (the most direct route) and a 5 minute
crossing from Colintraive to the north end of the island. The shorter
crossing brings you to the island by a more scenic route, though takes
longer from Glasgow and the South to reach Bute.
Wemyss Bay is accessible by both road and rail from Glasgow, with the
journey from Glasgow Central Station taking approximately 50 minutes.
Bute Writers' Group meet at 7.30pm on alternate Wednesdays at Orissor
House, Craigmore Road, on the Isle of Bute. New members are welcome. For
